Pret launches £20 subscription scheme, as it evolves into a multi-channel business

MILAN – Pret A Manger is launching what it claims is the UK’s first ever in-shop coffee subscription service. The YourPret Barista coffee subscription allows customers to purchase, for a fixed fee of £20 per month, any “barista prepared” drink – including tea, coffee, hot chocolate, smoothies and frappes – using their phone to access the subscription, up to five times a day, seven days a week.

The chain is hoping that the price tag of £20 is low enough to win back some of the business lost in the pandemic.

The subscription model will also allow Pret to navigate the world of loyalty rewards, and importantly for the business—gain valuable data and spending habit patterning from their consumers, as the programme is facilitated through the firms App.
