VIETNAM – Ministry sees production at 1.3 million tons in 2014/15

Vietnam’s coffee output is forecast to reach 1.3 million tonnes, or 21.67 million bags, in the current 2014/2015 crop year, according to figures from the country’s Agriculture Ministry reported by Dau Tu daily newspaper.

The world’s largest Robusta producer harvested 1.289 million tons of coffee in 2013/14, the daily also wrote citing the government-run Vietnam Coffee Coordinating Board.

Both figures are far below traders’ projections and ICO’s official figures.

In other news, coffee exports from Vietnam are expected to reach 120,000 tonnes and 150,000 tonnes (2-2.5 million bags) this month, up at least 26% from November, according to traders.

Coffee exports in November rose 18 percent from a year ago to an estimated 95,000 tonnes, the government has said.
