Growth in all supply chains

As far as the Italian supply chains of the dolce out-of-home industry are concerned, despite the particular socio-economic context of 2022, the year that just ended was one of recovery. Artisan gelato saw turnover grow by 16% compared to 2021, reaching 2.7 billion euros between gelato parlours, pastry shops and bars that sell gelato (2.3 billion in 2021 and 1.85 billion in 2020). Pastry also seems to confirm that living “La dolce vita” is still an Italian prerogative, especially during the holidays.

Chocolate is doing well: in the first half of 2022, sales increased by 7.2% compared to the same period in 2021 for a value of 882.7 million euros. The bread market is stable, which in Italy moves just under one and a half million tonnes of product, with 84.9% of consumers going to the baker’s almost every day. Lastly, coffee remains one of the most
popular beverages. According to the European Coffee Report, 95% of the Italian population consumes it habitually.
