PIRACICABA, São Paulo, Brazil – The domestic market of arabica coffee oscillated in early September, says Cepea in its latest report. In general, however, market aspects indicate increases: limited supply, reduction of certified arabica coffee inventories at ICE Futures, impacts of US tariffs and the fact that sellers were firm, expecting higher values to negotiate.

From August 29 to September 15, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for the arabica coffee type 6, delivered to São Paulo city, upped 2.28%, closing at BRL 2,376.04 per 60-kg bag on Sept. 159.

In the scenario, players continue focused on crop activities and waiting for the return of the rainfall.

In regard of the development of the 2026/27 season, in spite of adversities brought by the cold weather over the last months, especially in Cerrado Mineiro, plants in many regions are in better conditions compared to those observed in previous years, which can favor the recovery of the production in the next season.

However, the scarcity of rains is a concern. Still, the scenario is more favorable compared to that verified in previous crops, because the first semester of this year registered satisfactory volumes of rainfall and milder temperatures in relation to those observed in the same period of the crop before.

As for robusta, according to players surveyed by Cepea, flowers have already started to bloom in Espírito Santo and in Rondônia, but irregularly, due to the heterogeneous volume of rainfall in August and early September.

Producers claim to be concerned with high temperatures and the low volume of rains in early September, a scenario that can affect the next crop.
