SCARPERIA, Italy – La Marzocco, the leader in design and espresso machine innovation, hosted a new edition of the Italian AeroPress Championship in the heart of Milan (on May 26), as part of the World AeroPress Championship (WAC): an international competition format gathering coffee enthusiasts to promote an alternative coffee brewing method and to build community.
Different coffee interpretations, same objective: quality
This year, the two brands, closely connected by cultural affinity and communications style, joined forces again to create an opportunity for coffee people to gather, share and/or compete through fun, engaging activities.
The Aeropress technique is one of the innovative and contemporary trends amongst the new coffee generation, seeking new ways of preparing and enjoying coffee-based drinks, and becoming more curious and experimental in the quest of enhancing cup quality.
Italian AeroPress Championship
La Marzocco is excited to congratulate the champion, Rossella Musarra (PICTURE), who made it amongst the two finalists Helena Oliviero and Ilaria Nocentini. This was the first time in World AeroPress Championship history that three female competitors made it to the final national round.
Rossella won a flight ticket to Seoul, South Korea, to attend and compete in the culminating WAC challenge this November.http://worldaeropresschampionship.com/
The event was launched in collaboration with Nuova Ricambi, IMS Filtri, E&B, Bugan coffee, Caffé Pascucci and media partner Bar Giornale.
Over 40 competitors registered – and the judges were: Francesco Sanapo (multiple award-winning former Italian Barista Champion and manager of Ditta Artigianale in Florence), Enrico Wurm (Product Improvement Manager at La Marzocco and International Judge for World Coffee Events) and Tim Varney, from Australia (worldwide coffee expert and co-founder of World AeroPress Championship).
Moreover, the co-founder of the official Bugan competition coffee, Sonia Valli, and the coffee journalist Nadia Rossi participated as guest judges.
Rossella was born in Milan on the 21st of March 1986. Rossella’s professional experience in the coffee industry started almost one year ago ‘MAM – Milano Amore Mio’, a renowned Milanese bistro in the district of Porta Romana, where she still works today.
“My colleagues and friends guided me towards this La Marzocco and AeroPress experience. Indeed, they taught me many things about coffee and that’s how I fell in love with this fascinating world! For the World AeroPress Championship in Seoul, I am ready to enjoy myself, enrich my involvement in coffee and have fun with the rest of the community. That’s the same spirit which lead me to take part in the Italian AeroPress Championship in Milano. My victory was that of a team!”
