CASTEL MAGGIORE, Italy – The Coind Group, leader in Italy for the production of private label coffee and producer of several important brands of its own (Meseta, Attibassi, Carracci…), is now introducing in its commercial offer aluminium capsules compatible with Nespresso* coffee machines. “The portioned coffee market, as we all know, has experienced continuous growth in recent years,” claims Luca Cioffi, president of Coind.

“We have been covering the segment for some time, offering capsules compatible with the main standards. From today, in addition to the traditional Nespresso* compatible capsules in plastic, and the more recent compostable ones, we are happy to offer our customers also those in aluminium, increasingly requested by the Italian and international market”.

Aluminium Nespresso* compatible capsules, once produced only by the Swiss company, have become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks to the introduction of this type of capsule by several major players in the sector.

Recently, aluminium has also made its appearance in the private label segment as a brand product of some large chains, especially in northern Europe.

“As private label producers”, Cioffi continues, “we are very attentive to this trend, and therefore very proud to be able to offer aluminium capsules to our customers, with a great choice of blends and packaging formats, at certainly competitive prices”.

Like all Coind products, the new capsules can also be produced using the certified blends already available in the Group’s standard offer. Among the most important certifications we find Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic and the Carbon Neutral certification, which consists in offsetting the emissions deriving from production – in this case of coffee capsules – by investing in climate friendly initiatives.

“We are proud to be the first coffee roasting company in Italy to be able to offer Carbon Neutral certified aluminium capsules, which are available right now for all private label projects and under our Meseta brand”, adds Cioffi.

In addition to Meseta, the Group will also start the production of these new capsules with its own brand Attibassi, sure to meet the favour of consumers, who are now used to a “premium” product, not only in appearance but also in substance: in fact, aluminium perfectly preserves the coffee aromas inside the capsule.

There are also good expectations on the sustainability side: the material used is still virgin aluminium, but the market is experimenting with recycled aluminium and we expect that from 2022 we will offer capsules made entirely of this material.

Like the compostable capsules, the aluminium ones are also a response to “no plastics”, that is the decision to avoid the use of fossil-based plastics in disposable containers.

“In the last three years, we have invested over 20 million of euros in the modernization of our production lines; a large part of this figure has been dedicated to Nespresso* compatible capsules.

With the inclusion of aluminium today our offer becomes complete, allowing us to respond to the requests of our customers and to intercept the growing demand of international markets. We are obviously proud of this achievement and more than ever ready to respond to future challenges”, concludes Cioffi.
