Australia’s coffee community now have the chance to join the ASCA Barista and Roaster Guilds. Membership to the guilds, which is free until 31 December, will give roasters and baristas the opportunity to keep on top of events and training happening around Australia.

Members will be updated on events via ASCA’s website and E-Newsletter.

ASCA (Australian Specialty Coffee Association) launched its Victoria’s Barista Guild, in conjunction with Veneziano’s Legend’s Smackdown, at First Pour in Abbotsford last month.

Nic Michaelides was announced as ASCA Victoria Barista Guild’s first President.

“There is a huge amount of talented baristas in the Australian coffee community, and it’s only gathering greater pace, yet there seems to be an isolation accessing or sharing this talent and passion,” said Nic at the launch.

“ASCA has decided to establish a Barista Guild to connect coffee appreciators from the domestic user to industry professionals by building a strong barista community that benefits everyone.”

ASCA will launch other state guilds in the coming months, in the meantime, anyone interested can join by selecting their state on the ASCA website.
