Coffee exports from Vietnam are seen 13.5% down on year in Jan-Apr 2019

MILAN – Coffee exports from Vietnam are in the first four months of calendar year 2019 are expected to fall by 13.5% on year to 629,000 tons or 10.48 million bags, the General Statistics Office reported on Monday.

Coffee export earnings are forecast to decline 22.6 percent to $1.09 billion, said the same source.

In other news, coffee trading was slow last week in Vietnam due to low prices. Farmers in Vietnam’s Central Highlands sold coffee at 30,500-31,400 dong ($1.35)($1.31-$1.35) per kg on Thursday, compared with 30,900-31,800 dong last week.

This is more than 14% down from the level recorded this time last year.
