BONNER, Mont., USA – More than 15 years ago, Planetary Design, LLC, was born when its founders went on a backpacking trip in western Montana and wanted to drink quality coffee while enjoying the rugged beauty of the mountains that surrounded them. In the years since, the company has been dedicated to creating products that allow other coffee and tea lovers to enjoy their favorite beverages while on outdoor adventures.

Now, Planetary is proud to announce it has joined the Conservation Alliance, which brings together the outdoor community’s leading companies to help protect North America’s wild places.

“Planetary Design is a product of the outdoors and our gear is designed to help others bring their favorite coffee or tea along on their adventures in a manner that’s beneficial to the environment, which is why we believe it’s vital to protect the wild places around us for future generations,” said Jess Nepstad.

“With the help of the diverse group of businesses the Conservation Alliance has brought together, we can make a difference protecting the places we’re all so passionate about. We look forward to a longstanding partnership.”

The Planetary Design family of brands, which includes BruTrek French presses and drinkware for outdoor adventures and Airscape coffee and food storage containers, strives to protect the environment by promoting sustainability. BruTrek French presses and drinkware eliminate the need to bring single-serve pour-over coffee filters, instant coffee packets, tea bags and disposable cups along while camping.

Airscape containers come packaged in a reusable cotton bag, instead of disposable plastic, which can be filled with coffee beans from coffee roasters or bulk dispensers at grocery stores. Airscape containers are also designed to help reduce food waste, with an inner lid that forces out air to preserve freshness.

The Conservation Alliance was founded in 1989 by a handful of companies that shared the goal of increasing outdoor industry support for conservation efforts. Since then, it has contributed more than $27 million to grassroots conservation groups throughout North America, helping to save 73 million acres of wildlands, protect 3,580 miles of rivers, stop or remove 37 dams, designate five marine reserves and purchase 21 climbing areas. It now has more than 270 member companies and plans to disburse more than $2.2 million in 2022.

Among the efforts the Conservation Alliance has contributed to in Planetary’s home state of Montana are a dam removal on Rattlesnake Creek, in the company’s backyard; support for preservation of lands along Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front; and support for protection of one of the state’s gateways to Yellowstone National Park.
