VISTA, Calif., U.S. – NuZee, Inc. announced yesterday that it has signed a joint agreement with Japan’s Fuso Industries Co Ltd and NASA Corporation that grants NuZee the exclusive North America rights to utilize NASA’s proprietary machinery brand FUSO in the manufacturing of NuZee’s Coffee Blenders line of Drip Cup coffee products. The agreement will commence January 1, 2018.
The Drip Cup market in Japan is estimated to be approximately 2.3 billion cups per year, with the majority of these cups manufactured by the FUSO brand Drip Cup packing machine.
“This exclusive U.S. license provides us with a significant barrier to entry with respect to the manufacture of Drip Cup coffee,” said Masa Higashida, NuZee’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Our total revenues for the nine months ended June 30, 2017 rose to $1.2 million from $455,000 in all of FY 2016, driven in large part by higher sales of our Drip Cup line of functional coffees, which we began selling in the U.S. and Asia in 2015. We expect Drip Cup sales to rise throughout FY 2018, and this technology will allow us to meet anticipated growing market demand.”
“We are very pleased to formalize our relationship with NASA, whose technology we have utilized for the last several years,” said Travis Gorney, President and COO of NuZee.
“The Drip Cup is a common and popular brewing method in Asia and we are encouraged by the reception it has received in the United States. The portable Drip Cup is ideal for campers, college students, outdoor enthusiasts, and coffee-lovers in general, and allows consumers to conveniently craft quality gourmet coffee virtually anywhere.”
NuZee manufactures and sells its Drip Cup line of single serve, pour-over functional coffees in the following varieties: Lean Cup® (for weight loss), Think Cup® (for cognitive performance), Relax Cup® (for stress reduction), Active Cup® (for a pre-workout boost of energy), Nude Cup® (100% Arabica coffee with no added functionality), and Kona Blend, as well as its newly released 100% all-natural Twin Peaks™ line of pour-over coffees with blends from Honduras, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
