STUTTGART, Germany – From 15 to 19 February 2020, start-up founders, young entrepreneurs and business creators from the restaurant and hotel industry will again use Newcome to present their business model to the specialist world, to test and scrutinise it, and to make contacts in the sector.

The special show (Halls 1 and 7) takes place regularly within the framework of Intergastra and provides young doers and innovators with an appropriate platform for presenting their ideas and product novelties.

For CODE2ORDER GmbH from Stuttgart, a travel tech start-up and winner of the Intergastra Innovation Prize in 2018, and KAYA&KATO GmbH from Cologne, a manufacturer of sustainable workwear, Newcome 2018 was a springboard for their current success.

Newcome is an effective platform for innovative services relating to the hospitality business. Their great advantage: start-up founders profit from first-class trade visitors at Intergastra. Decision-makers from restaurants, hotels, large-scale catering companies, bakeries, confectioners, the coffee industry, gelato manufacturers and food and beverage retailers use Newcome to become acquainted with new developments and establish important contacts.

“The hospitality business thrives on innovative approaches and creative trailblazers whose courage and passion are shaping the hotel and restaurant industry of the future. We offer these innovators the right projection area and first-class contacts at INTERGASTRA,” said Markus Tischberger, Intergastra Project Manager. However, attractive competitions such as the Intergastra Innovation Prize or the Elevator Pitch – a 3-minute concept presentation to an expert jury – enable young entrepreneurs to demonstrate their expertise.

Code2order – a Stuttgart success story

Patrick Luik, Managing Director of the Stuttgart-based company CODE2ORDER GmbH, participated in Newcome in 2018 together with his co-founders Alexander Haussmann and Fabian Hieber. Their conclusion: They would present their business model there again at any time. “Our objective was to increase the awareness of our company in the industry and present our digital solution for hotels at the trade fair,” said Patrick Luik.

The now internationally operating tech company from Stuttgart was founded in 2015 with the business idea of offering a digital guest folder to hotels and their guests. Right from the beginning we focused on the latest technology trend, i.e. the progressive web app. It makes the traditional app download superfluous. The solution has now become a digital companion for hotel guests and provides an integrated service which is available during every phase of the stay,” explained the Managing Director of CODE2ORDER GmbH. The main functions include, for example, digital check-in, a smart feedback inquiry during the stay and the display and booking of hotel services.

Shortly after its presentation at Intergastra and victory in the Innovation Prize, it recorded 1,000 hotel customers in 15 countries for the first time. “Looking back, we did everything right with the presentation at Newcome,” concluded Patrick Luik.

Kaya&Kato – fair produced workwear from Cologne

Participation in Newcome and the Elevator Pitch was a unique opportunity for KAYA&KATO GmbH to allow trade visitor to scrutinise the still young label – so to speak the acid test for the company’s business idea. Founded in 2015, the Cologne-based company concentrates on exclusively fair production of sustainable workwear for restaurants, hotels, hospitals and commercial enterprises – right across the entire delivery chain. Its objective: to continuously revolutionise the labour market for workwear.

The products are made of organic cotton or consist of a polyester and cotton mixture for which recycled plastic waste from the sea is used. Plastic waste from 12.5 PET bottles is utilised in every metre of the company’s fabrics. Fisherman off the coasts of Spain also fish the plastic out of the sea for the business idea of KAYA&KATO GmbH.

“Only at such large trade fairs as Intergastra are we able to meet the complete spectrum of gastronomic businesses – from small cafés through to world-famous hotels – within a short period of time,” said Dr. Stefan Rennicke, Managing Director of KAYA&KATO GmbH. The response by trade visitor was positive – directly after the trade fair the company received a large number of orders and also acquired loyal customers who still purchase workwear today at regular intervals. The company now has the exclusive rights to supply hotels, restaurants and the trade with this type of fabric – also outside Germany.

“During NEWCOME we obtained new impressions, preferences, opinions and inspirations in regard to our products. All this benefited our product optimisations,” enthused Dr. Stefan Rennicke. “I can only recommend new start-ups to plan their own business idea with enthusiasm and exhibit at Newcome. Newcome is characterised by crowds of visitors and the perception of young companies is excellent.”
