MUMAC at the exhibition “Passione Italiana: l’arte dell’espresso” now under way in Copenhagen

On March 7th, 2023, the opening evening of the exhibition has been held at the Institute of Italian Culture of Copenhagen. The exhibition is a collaboration with Italian Design Day, an initiative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

BINASCO, Milan (Italy) – MUMAC, Museum of Coffee Espresso Machine of Cimbali Group takes part with a loan to the exhibition “Passione Italiana: l’arte dell’espresso” , organised by IMF Foundation and EP studio in collaboration with the Institute of Italian Culture of Copenhagen and the curatorship of Elisabetta Pisu: the exhibition celebrates coffee and illustrates the evolution of design of one among the most-beloved Italian symbols, the coffee machines.

On March 7th, 2023, the opening evening of the exhibition has been held at the Institute of Italian Culture of Copenhagen. The exhibition is a collaboration with Italian Design Day, an initiative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The vernissage opened with an introductory speech on the theme of the day by the Director of the Institute, Raffaello Barbieri, followed by two speeches by Elisabetta Pisu, creator and curator of the exhibition, who explained the message and the research work carried out, and Anna Cento, MUMAC Curator, who presented the loan carried out by MUMAC and its museum reality.

The objects on display trace a historical path over the last two centuries between coffee makers born from the inspiration of great designers, becoming icons of an era, and more recent pieces made with new technologies that have transformed production processes and raised standards qualitative.

La Cimbali

MUMAC contributes to the exhibition by loaning four historic coffee machines that are part of its museum collection:

  • Modello Mignonette, Eterna, Pavia, 1925.
  • Serie Brillante, La Cimbali, Milano, 1952.
  • Modello America, Gaggia, Milano, 1958.
  • Modello E-61, Faema, Milano, 1961.

Inside the two rooms that host the exhibition, everything brings back to life the totally Italian passion of the coffee ritual.

With 45 pieces on display including home and bar machines, sets and coffee cups, visitors find themselves immersed in a journey through time that has the scent of coffee. From the domestic and everyday dimension of coffee makers to professional bar machines, espresso is an undisputed icon of the Italian Way of Life.

The exhibition will be open until next March 31. The entrance is free.
