FLORENCE — La Marzocco, a Florence-based company and leader in espresso machine production since 1927, announced the Jay grinder at the company’s signature event OUT OF THE BOX (SuperStudio Più Milan, October 18). La Marzocco is renowned for their innovation and reliability in espresso machines and has brought those same values to its engineering and production of coffee grinders.
The Jay is the newest addition to La Marzocco’s line of coffee grinders, and features a number of innovations that make it extraordinarily easy to use, clean, and maintain.
Its low- profile design ensure that it feels at home next to any La Marzocco espresso machine, while maintaining the reliability and consistency that you’ve come to expect from La Marzocco products.
Featuring a unique, magnetically attached burr holder, the Jay simplifies the process of cleaning the stainless steel grinding chamber while helping to protect the burrs from any foreign objects. The hopper is self closing to ensure that no coffee is spilled when removing it, and the burr holder can then be removed for instant access to the grinding chamber.
The 68mm burrs also feature a unique, rear-mounted design, meaning that their uninterrupted cutting surface grinds up to 15% more efficiently than traditional burrs. Hence, the Jay grinds very quickly, producing an 18-gram shot in about 5 seconds, and starts one-handed using a portafilter-actuated switch.
Crafted from a carefully selected, high-hardness material, the burrs ensure a very long life between changes. When the time does come to change them, a patented burr alignment system ensures that the new burrs are in perfect alignment, simplifying the process for technicians while improving the consistency and quality of the ground coffee.
A simple, intuitive interface ensures that it’s easy to program and change dose values. Simply press and hold the button, and icons illuminate to guide you through the process. You can also add grind-by-weight accuracy with a La Marzocco connected scale and grind-by-weight kit. This allows you to further increase the accuracy of every dose, and eliminates the need for dose adjustments when changing the grind size using the stepless adjustment ring. The IoT connectivity used to connect the scale also means that you can access the Jay’s settings and statistics from your mobile device.
