VICENZA, Italy – The three new products which all stand for premium quality and expertise, are double-certified which means they are both Bio – a technique which sees that every coffee bean is nurtured through responsible, organic agricultural processes, and Fairtrade – which sees farmers receive a fair price for their coffee crops. This in turn leaves a lasting impact on our farmers’ and communities’ livelihoods and enables them to invest in growing greater quality beans too.

The addition of the Bio Fairtrade line is aimed at horeca customers keen to differentiate themselves through the sustainable quality and the delightful taste of the premium coffee they serve, and who want to make a step forward towards making sustainability a more significant aspect of their business management and everyday life.

As with all The Originals blends, the new line-up is inspired by Vienna’s coffeehouse culture and heritage, which derives from the unique concept that “Every bean has a story”. The Originals coffee line is not only original in terms of how it is better for everyone – for customers who really care about the planet and businesses, who are committed to making the world a better place, but also for its’ – “made by artisans, for artisans”.

More than 160 years of Julius Meinl coffee-making expertise sees every bean roasted to perfection to allow the final coffee blend to deliver its’ highly-awarded and distinctive full-bodied flavour, and which has cemented Julius Meinl’s place in the hearts and minds of customers across the globe.

The illustrations on the new packaging designs for the three exciting Bio Fairtrade additions to The Originals coffee line by Julius Meinl have been thoughtfully imagined by the renowned American illustrator, Steven Noble.

Celebrated for his artisanal approach to design, his illustrations feature complex and precise linework, created through the use of traditional hand-wood curving techniques. Steven’s illustrations capture the most meaningful moments in the coffee harvesting process including a coffee farm with its farmers which is key to this great premium coffee, and which can be seen on the front of the new packaging designs.

This collaborative effort ensures greater traceability in the coffee supply chain while supporting farmers and local communities to grow and learn together.

The close connection between Vienna’s heritage and nature is once again celebrated through the unique names given to the new The Originals Bio Fairtrade coffee blends. The inspiration comes from three iconic locations where Vienna culture meets with nature, the key attribute of all Bio Fairtrade products, and where today, people come together to share meaningful moments over a cup of coffee.

Belvedere Blend

Originally named after the Belvedere World Heritage site – one of the world’s oldest museums and now a top destination for contemporary art lovers – Belvedere Blend brings together 100% Arabica beans from Nicaragua & Honduras as the finest origins, to create a toffee sweetness, which perfectly complements the hazelnut base. An elegantly balanced, creamy blend, it has a rich, dark chocolate aftertaste brightened by a hint of crisp red apple.

Gloriette Gold

Celebrates the Gloriette, a monumental, baroque garden structure dating from 1775, which affords unique views over the city and the surrounding Vienna Woods. Today, the Gloriette remains a world-renowned Viennese coffee house, steeped in history and cultural significance. Ideal for the coffee lover with a sweet tooth, the blend itself evokes an image of the Vienna patisserie with its cacao-dusted desserts and sugar-glazed pastries sprinkled with nuts. It boasts a glorious, velvety feeling in the mouth which perfectly marries with the intense pure cacao aroma.
