TURIN, Italy – The initiative for coffee&climate (c&c) invites to the YouTube Premiere “Growing Coffee in the Face of Climate Change – Addressing and Mitigating the Impacts” on February 8 at 3:30 pm CET. In his keynote speech, Michael Opitz presents how coffee farmers not only become more resilient in the face of climate change but succeed in actually increasing their yields.

Climate change on coffee

Climate change has a big impact on coffee farming and, by extension, on entire communities of coffee farm- ing families. This results in the loss of yields of coffee as well as food crops.

Neumann Stiftung, the foundation that implements the c&c projects. In his keynote speech, he explains how challenges can be turned into opportunities and how farming families can write their own success stories despite all the adversities posed by climate change.

The speech was recorded at the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2022. It will be shown online as a YouTube Premiere on February 8, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. Participation is free of charge. Registration is open here.
