LOS ANGELES, USA – The 2023 Mindful Awards Program, an independent recognition platform highlighting conscious companies and products that mindfully make waves in the ever-expanding world of consumer-packaged goods, today announced that Endiro Coffee, a fully integrated tree-to-cup coffee company, has been selected as the winner of the “Coffee Product of the Year” award.

Endiro’s Bukalasi coffee is medium bodied with tastes of fruit. The nutty, sweet earthy coffee also has a floral and herbal finish. There are no added artificial flavors and it is produced and sourced at the village level in Uganda by mostly women farmers where Endiro employs fully organic and regenerative agricultural practices.

Cody Lorance and Gloria Katusiime have grown Endiro from a single cafe in Kampala, Uganda to over 17 branches in three countries. In 2015, they began working directly with Ugandan coffee farmers to produce sustainably and ethically sourced coffee. By 2017, they had a network of over 2,000 farmers. Endiro mentors and equips their farmers, forging genuine relationships and the coffee is exported around the world.

The company has achieved B-Corp Certification and focuses on every point of the coffee value chain to work for the “business as transformation” within communities. Even at the cafe level, each manager is mentored to engage their local community through a wide variety of projects and local partnerships that help families in need.

“Endiro doesn’t just produce quality delicious coffee, their whole business model is transformative when it comes to justice and development causes. Congratulations on winning the ‘Coffee Product of the Year’ award,” said Travis Grant, Managing Director, Mindful Awards. “Their coffee is sourced with the highest ethical standards and their contextualized community engagement strategies help promote positive social transformation in every city they find themselves in. This is true holistic transformation.”

The mission of the Mindful Awards program is to honor conscious CPG companies and products that offer transparency to consumers, pay workers fair wages, ensure sustainable business practices, use recycled or recyclable materials, and create healthier products using natural or organic ingredients. This year’s program attracted more than 1650 nominations from companies all over the world. All nominations are evaluated by an independent panel of experts within the consumer-packaged goods industry. The winning products and companies have been selected based on a variety of criteria, ranging from Impact, Credibility, Health, Transparency and more.

“Farmers who were living on less than a dollar per day, now have exceeded the Ugandan median income through coffee. We learned that our business could not only generate money for the sake of justice, but the business itself could be conducted in an intentionally transformative way. Coffee has the potential to be used to bring positive change around the world,” said Cody Lorance, Co-CEO of Endiro Coffee. “This Mindful Award is validation for the work done by our farmers in Uganda and our roastery team in the US. We are so grateful that our vision to be a company that addresses child vulnerability and advances justice, peace, liberty and dignity through the utilization of coffee is being recognized.”
