COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Eataly, the world’s largest market place for Italian gourmet food and wine, offering authentic quality products and specialties is opening today its first outlet in Copenhagen. The Italian gourmet store also hosts a Lavazza café.

After huge successes with the opening of Eataly locations with Lavazza cafés in Chicago and two in New York, the Italian brand is setting its sights on Copenhagen.

Here, Eataly will open its doors in the luxurious department store Illum, inclusive of a new Lavazza café for guests, providing a unique offering to the approximately 6.5 million coffee-loving visitors who stop by the luxurious shopping mall annually.

Lavazza, a more than 120-year-old authentic family coffee company recently introduced its products to Denmark, with the launch of its premium filter coffee line this summer.

Peter Falk, Director of Lavazza Denmark, states, ‘We are thrilled to inaugurate a Lavazza café at the new Eataly in Illum in Copenhagen, which brings a small piece of Italy to Denmark.

This is the latest step in our solid and long-standing partnership with a company that shares strong, common values.’ He adds, ‘Denmark for Lavazza is a market of great strategic importance, not only because of the country’s love for coffee but also for their growing interest in specialty products and authentic experiences.’

Lavazza’s recent acquisition of the historic brand Merrild has allowed the Italian company to become more engrained in the fabric of Danish coffee culture. All of this is amplified by the recently-launched Lavazza premium coffee filter line created for Denmark, which will be the protagonist of both the new Lavazza Eataly café and inside the Eataly retail store.

Shared passion for quality

Both Lavazza and Eataly have their roots in the Italian region of Piedmont where Turin is located and, similarly, the two companies have a common passion for quality, authenticity and the pursuit of excellence in everything they do.

These shared company values are indeed the underlying theme for the design of the Lavazza cafeteria at Eataly Copenhagen, communicated through the environment and design with the use of natural materials. The result creates a cozy atmosphere and warm, inclusive environment.

Gloria Bagdadli, Global Head of Marketing Retailing for Lavazza, stated, ‘Providing authentic Italian coffee experiences is at the core of Lavazza’s DNA. With the opening of Eataly Copenhagen, we have worked tirelessly to create a space where guests will be able to experience a little piece of Italy in Denmark.’

She added, ‘This is indeed a very special time in our partnership with Eataly. The new Copenhagen Eataly-Lavazza café is our first in Europe outside of Italy and is taking place the same week as the opening of our café at Eataly Boston. This also all happening on the heels of a recently opened second location in New York City, and, in the coming months, additional openings scheduled for Moscow, and Los Angeles.’
