The first coffee his company shipped to subscribers was from Limmu, Ethiopia. Three years later, he decided to revisit the region to feature coffee from Yidinekachew and Mesfin Dabasa, two brothers who received tracks of land from the Ethiopian government in the late 2000s to preserve natural forest land and farm coffee on its periphery.

Falber was impressed by their dedication to quality and sustainability, and decided to partner with them to bring their unique coffee to the United States. City Boy Coffee prides itself on paying sustainable rates for beans that are significantly higher than fair trade.

The special third anniversary coffee from Limmu, Ethiopia showcases the unique flavor profile of the region. It’s a naturally processed heirloom variety that has notes of tamarind, dark chocolate, fig, angostura bitters and oak barrel. It is roasted to a medium level to preserve its sweetness and complexity.

Falber says that this coffee is very special to him and his company, as it represents the roots of his passion and vision. “Limmu is believed to be the birthplace of arabica, the most prized species of coffee, and modern-day Ethiopia is located in the part of Africa where coffee is believed to have originated. The origin is integral to the history of coffee and our founding story. I’m very proud to celebrate our third anniversary with this coffee, and I hope that our customers will enjoy it as much as I do.”

The special release of the Limmu coffee is available for a limited time on City Boy Coffee’s website and pop-up locations in New York City. Customers can also watch Falber’s YouTube video where he will share his insights on the region and the coffee in an upcoming live stream.
