UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Apex-Brasil to showcase specialty food and beverages during Gulfood 8 -12 February 2015

DUBAI – The finest selection of Brazilian food and beverage specialties will be on display at Gulfood 2015, taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

From confectionery to meat and dairy, The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) is championing the country’s top producers at the world renowned annual trade event.

Apex-Brasil is welcoming a selection of 72 Brazilian food and beverage companies to the show. Over the four days, the Brazilian pavilion, located in Hall 3, will be providing a platform for the country to highlight its diverse range of F&B offerings.

Whilst also seeking to maximise opportunities to recruit potential importers, liaise with other buyers, share expertise and attend conferences given by industry leaders.

Brazil is the world’s leading exporter of beef, poultry, sugar, green coffee beans, soybeans and orange juice. Its agricultural sector plays an important role in driving the country’s economy, accounting for 23 % of GDP and 41 % of the country’s total exports.

Brazil also experiences high demand for other items of produce including; fruits, nuts, corn and rice. In 2014 the country’s food and beverage exports totalled 68.13 billion US dollars, with 4.09 billion US dollars specifically destined for the UAE and other GGC countries.

The wide variety of companies that will be exhibiting their goods in the Brazilian pavilion this year comprises of, fruit and nut exporters, dairy providers, confectionary distributers and global exporters as well as beef and chicken companies.

Products available across these sectors includes nut delicacies, gourmet coffee, specialist gluten free cheese breads and organic sugar as well as a variety of unique sweet and chocolate offerings.

Apex-Brasil’s core focus is establishing and generating trade for Brazilian exporters, through creating international awareness in order to secure foreign investment.

In additional to its work supporting Brazilian companies participating in major international trade fairs, Apex-Brasil also carries out trade missions, targeted business matching rounds, technical trips with opinion formers, market studies.

‘There is always the appetite for us to highlight the vast portfolio of Brazil’s food and beverage exports in the GCC region, with it being a major importer of food from around the world,” said Rafael Prado, Executive Manager of Image and Market Access at Apex-Brasil.

“Brazil is the largest supplier of chicken to the UAE, with a market share of 70.82%. Our other exports such as Brazilian such as beef, coffee, eggs, corn and sugar also make up a significant share.

The diversity and quality of companies exhibiting at Gulfood this year showcases some of the finest exports from Brazil’s food and drink industry on offer for the GCC.”

Apex-Brasil will also be turning up the heat and giving visitors a taste of Brazil, with Brazilian chefs stationed in two of the event’s restaurants. The chefs will be serving a selection of delicious delicacies over the five days.

Gulfood is recognised as the Middle East’s largest food, drink, food service and hospitality exhibition, taking place annually at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Brazilian companies will be exhibiting at Gulfood 2015 in Hall 3.
