MILAN – Coffee exports from Vietnam, the world’s top Robusta Coffee Grower, in the first 10 months of 2019 year likely fell 13.8% from a year earlier to 1.365 million tonnes, the country’ General Statistcs Office (Gso) reported last week.
This equals to 22.75 million bags.
Overseas coffee sales in October were 100,000 tons, down 27% from a year ago, as farmers held off selling beans with prices at their lowest in a decade.
In other news, the 2019 Coffee Expo Vietnam, the most prominent commercial event in the coffee, tea and bakery sectors, took place last weekend in HCM City, attracting 80 brands from eight countries and territories.
The expo featured 205 booths displaying a wide range of tea and coffee products and machinery, equipment and materials to make coffee, beverages and sweet foods.
The event also included concurrent events like the Vietnam Super Barista contest, the International Coffee Roast Master Championship and training sessions for baristas and people working at coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and hotels.
