Quirino Coffee Industry Council officers take oath before Governor

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Philippines — The officers of the newly organized Quirino Coffee Industry Council (QCIC) recently took their oath of office before Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua during the Farm Family Day celebration, one of the highlights of the 48th Araw ng Quirino and Panagdadapun festival.

The officers are: Johnny Chan, chairman; Dante Tobias, president; Antonio Agnapan, vice president-Diffun; James Puguon, vice president-Cabarroguis; Alberto Juan, vice president- Saguday; Daniel Bucag, vice president-Aglipay; Arnold Pugong, vice president-Maddela and Pepito Dizon, vice president-Nagtipunan.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Ma. Sofia Narag said the Council will play an important role in lifting up the standards of living of the coffee farmers through the strong linkage with partner agencies and stakeholders that are expert in the field of producing and marketing of coffee.

With the council’s engagement, the efforts of the coffee farmers will result to a massive production and better marketing of coffee products not just in the province but in other parts of the country and global market,” Narag added.

Last month, theprovincial government, DTI, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and other stakeholders collaborated for the conduct of Coffee Industry Stakeholders Forum at the DA-Quirino Experiment Station in Dungo, Aglipay to enhance the productivity of coffee farmers in the province.

Spearheaded by the DTI, theforum was in support to the provincial government’s vision to become the Prime Agro-Industrial and Eco-Tourism Destination in the North.

In the forum, Engr. Efren A. Dela Cruz, DTI-STIDS presented the National Coffee Roadmap and Localization of Roadmap and the strategies to make the localization suitable for the coffee farmers since the land and climate in Quirino is suitable for coffee production.
