TOKYO – Coffee Fest with FBC International and FABEX will be hosting the Coffee Fest World Latte Art Championship Open from April 2 through 4 in Tokyo, Japan.

Coffee Fest, a national festival for the specialty coffee, gourmet tea and alternative beverage industry, has been hosting Latte Art Competitions since 2002 at their shows.

They will be bringing their experience to Tokyo to organize a competition in an identical fashion as the ones at their show.

Sixty-four competitors will meet at Tokyo Big Site at FABEX, the World Food and Beverage Great Expo, to compete for the title of World Latte Art Champion at the first Coffee Fest event in Asia since 2008.

Competitors will be judged on five categories: aesthetic beauty, definition, color infusion, degree of difficulty and creativity, and speed.

The competitors have two minutes to produce their art in a head to head match.

Each of the three judges compares the drink presented by each of the two competitors in each match and award a point to the competitor with the best presentation in each of the five categories.

The competitor receiving the most points on each of the judge’s scorecard will be the winner in that judge’s opinion. The competitor advancing will advance by virtue of the judge’s scores of 3 to 0 sweep or 2 to 1.

David Heilbrunn, president and show manager of Coffee Fest, will be one of the three judges for the competition.

“Having seen the international competitor participation soar to nearly half the field over the past years, we are confident that this 64 competitor field in Japan may be the deepest of any World Latte Art Championship Open to date,” said Heilbrunn.

About Coffee Fest

Coffee Fest has been celebrating coffee long before coffee was “hot”. In 1992, they gathered coffee professionals together in Seattle for their first coffee festival.

After several years of hosting thriving consumer events, Coffee Fest turned its focus toward the specialty coffee, gourmet tea and alternative beverage industry bringing retailers, distributors and manufacturers together for its first retail “trade only show” in 1998.

With a mission to help attendees build and refine their specialty coffee businesses, they coupled a relevant educational program with a friendly, informative, and enjoyable trade show floor creating a successful show that serves as a touchstone for many in the specialty coffee industry.

Today Coffee Fest produces three trade shows annually, strategically positioned in New York City, St. Louis and Portland.

Coffee Fest remains the industry’s top-performing show, consistently providing retailers with relevant information to hone their business skills and up their bottom line and manufacturers and service companies the face to face opportunities to build their businesses.
