MILAN – Cocoa traded in London denominated in sterling rose to £2,495 a tonne, the highest level since 1977 as the pound hit a 31-year low. This was the contract’s fifth straight rise as prices have been buoyed by weakness in the sterling after Britain voted to leave the European Union.

U.S. dollar denominated cocoa, trading in New York, on Thursday settled up 1% at $3,110 per ton.
