According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), coffee exports from Vietnam will reach an estimated 100,000 tons in May, down 27.3 percent from the same month in 2014 at the lower end of market forecasts.
In its monthly report issued on Tuesday, the Office also revised down the export volume for April to 104,400 tonnes from 120,000 tonnes.
This figure brings overall shipments from the beginning of coffee year 2014/15 to 872,100 tonnes (14.53 million 60-kg bags), down 28 percent from the equivalent period in the previous coffee year, the GSO reported on Tuesday
In other news, coffee prices on Vietnam’s domestic markets have weakened to 34.5 million dong ($1,586) a tonne, the lowest since February 2014, tracking falls in global prices last week.
