PIRACICABA, São Paulo, Brazil – The low availability of coffee in Brazil (due to the reduced harvest and problems in processing activities), limited domestic inventories and US tariffs resulted in a decrease of the volume shipped in September, says Cepea in its latest report.

Data from Cecafé indicate that Brazil exported 3.75 million 60-kg bags of coffee in September, for a decrease of 18.4% compared to that registered in the same month last year.

In spite of that, the high price paid for the national product boosted the income, which totaled USD 1.369 billion last month, upping 11.1% in relation to September/24.

September is usually characterized by an increase of shipments, since it is a period when most part of the contracted Brazilian coffee has been delivered by producers, boosting the amount available to export.
