MILAN – From resort-core to biophilia, from hybrid spaces to the booming new investments: the future of hospitality is shaped by design and finds in HostMilano 2025 its international reference. Hoteliers say so.
The real luxury? It doesn’t impose itself, it whispers. Responding to the requests of an increasingly conscious and responsible guest, today hospitality focuses on identity, nature, and authenticity, especially for high-end offerings.
No longer just refined aesthetics, but a narrative language capable of telling the story of territories and values. And at Host 2025, at Fiera Milano from 17 to 21 October, you can preview ideas and solutions to transform a vision into a hotel ready to welcome.
Sensory immersion and slow experiences to grow the market
Which are the most interesting trends? Among the most recent are resort-core, which favors sensory immersion and slowness as a form of luxury, and magical maximalism, with bold colors and original details. At the same time, the trend of biophilic architecture continues, bringing nature into hospitality spaces. Increasingly widespread is also the logic of hybrid and multifunctional spaces, able to adapt to work, relaxation, and sociality, while sustainability and discreet technology become essential pillars of a new idea of hospitality.
A scenario also confirmed by the numbers: according to the Europe Hotel Development Trends & Projections report by Lodging Econometrics, in Europe alone in 2024 about 330 new hotels were inaugurated, for a total of almost 44,000 rooms.
In Italy, the dynamism of the sector is measured by over €2.1 billion in investments last year, 30% more than the average of the last decade, with a particular focus on the luxury segment, which alone attracted almost half of total investments.
The growth of new luxury as seen by the protagonists
“Luxury is no longer excess or formality but becomes the possibility of slowing down without having to justify it, living an authentic and intimate experience,” explains Annarita Aprea, Director of Sales & Marketing at Casa Angelina, an iconic five-star in Praiano, on the Amalfi Coast, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. “For us it means creating a coherent story that combines design inspired by the Mediterranean landscape, spaces that instill calm, discreet and genuine service, a cuisine rooted in the territory yet contemporary, and activities outside the hotel that let guests experience the essence of the place in a memorable way.”
“Today innovation and sustainability are not optional,” she adds, “but an integral part of the very concept of high-end hospitality. Technology must be discreet and at the service of the experience, sustainability a daily commitment made up of responsible choices. In this journey it is essential to be able to count on solid partners and on events that bring together the entire supply chain: events like Host become precious opportunities to discover turnkey solutions, meet the sector’s leading players, and foster relationships that give life to increasingly authentic and conscious hospitality.”
Confirming how the concept of hospitality is evolving towards experiences rooted in the territory and able to tell authentic stories is also the voice of those who offer a prestigious solution in the center of a city in full tourism growth, such as Bari.
“Luxury hospitality today can no longer be limited to refined aesthetics: every element, from the design of the rooms to the care of common areas, becomes part of a narrative that reflects the authentic identity of the place,” adds Mariadele Casillo, owner of Vis Urban Suites & Spa. “Guests no longer seek formality but proactive attention, personalized advice, and all-round engagement, where even the cuisine tells the story of the territory through seasonal and sustainable raw materials, transforming each dish into an experience that speaks of traditions and local culture.”
“It is this integration of design, service, and gastronomy that makes a stay unique: Italy, with its extraordinary variety of culinary traditions, allows experiential journeys ranging from private tastings in historic cellars to traditional cooking classes, to excursions in authentic and lesser-known places. In this way the guest immerses themselves in the culture of the territory at 360 degrees, experiencing a luxury that is not ostentation but a conscious and memorable choice.”
With its areas dedicated to furniture and technology and to the world of the table, Host 2025 is consolidating more and more as the international reference point for those designing hospitality and foodservice. From contract to domotics, from interior design to the new frontiers of table setting, HostMilano gives life to a unique ecosystem for those imagining the future of hospitality.
