RIMINI, Italy – World of Coffee 2014 is also staging Rimini Coffee Festival, a program of fringe events that will animate the most its suggestive locations and the Rimini marina, with the hotels, the trendiest venues and the famous beach.

Excellent events and cultural initiatives, organized by World of Coffee, SCAE Italia, with the support of the area’s most proactive associations.

The most original recherché combinations, the most classic and most unusual ones, coffee in a cup and in a glass, speciality coffees, mixed and matched with unusual food solutions, with a special search for taste and flavours, organic produce and traditional local products will be the key players on World of Coffee’s three days of mouth-watering fringe events.

In fact, the entire city of Rimini wants to “celebrate” coffee’s most international appointment, which this year will be staged in Italy, and the Romagna city has been chosen as the prestigious location for the event. But let’s proceed in an orderly fashion.

At the opening, the Welcome Reception in the late afternoon of 9th June at the City Museum.

Exhibition, tasting sessions and great concerts

As well as the special tasting sessions, coffee will also be the evenings’ theme on Tuesday (Exhibition/market of artisan products) and Thursday (Exhibition/market of antique, vintage and designer products) organized on Viale Vespucci organized by the Comitato Turistico Nuova Marina Centro.

There is eager expectation for the concert by Spandau Ballet, who give an exclusive performance, precisely during the days of World of Coffee, in the context of celebrations by Rimini’s historical Rose & Crown pub, Italy’s first “British style” pub (opened in 1964), which this year celebrates its “first” fifty years.

Rimini Hotels, top chefs and coffee

The aroma of coffee will also involve and “inebriate” the top hotels of Rimini and the Riviera. In the evenings of World of Coffee, the top hotels will propose a special recipe created by an award-winning chef.

On Tuesday 10th June space will be dedicated to a truly unique coffee-based savoury dish: in fact, chef Gian Paolo Raschi will present an exclusive recipe “Small cuttlefish toasted with their ink in potato and caffeine cream”; Wednesday 11th June will spotlight the coffee dessert par excellence – tiramisù – made with the special recipe of Roberto Rinaldini, prize-winning Italian pastry chef, and renamed “TIRAMIinSÙ”, whereas on the evening of Thursday 12th June, the more refined palates will able to taste an exclusive mouth-watering affogato made by master gelato artisan Sergio Dondoli.

On the other hand, the cocktail proposed in the three days by hotels taking part in the project will be entrusted to the Italian 2014 champion of Coffee in Good Spirits, Francesco Corona. It is The Cold Experiment, a fresh coffee-based cocktail with a spicy, rather citrus and slightly sharp flavour.

Coffee cocktails on the beach

Above all, along the vast Rimini beaches, from Beach area 1 to 150, coffee will be the real star of the tourist offer, with the presentation of two special trend-setting  cocktails – obviously based on coffee – which will inaugurate the 2014 summer season and will be specially created for the occasion by two excellent barmen: Ettore Diana, winner of the world cocktail championship, and French of two French barista championships (2013 and 2014) Luca Casadei, whose creation (“Caffè Frappe Mojito”) will be served in 60 coffee bars and “restaubars” along the Rimini coast.

Artisan pastry masters Gardini & Raimondi will supply small puffs with a coffee filling (what else?). Along this long stretch of coastline, Europe’s largest beach, an intensive informative/training operation by SCAE has also been held thanks to the collaboration with Mumac Academy and the consortia I Ristoranti del mare Rimini and Network Spiaggia Rimini, on how to obtain excellent espressos and prepare perfect cappuccinos.

Two great events that will open and close the three WOC days must also be remembered: the charity gala organized by SCAE in favour of the Coffee Kids foundation, which helps needy kids in coffee producing countries, planned on the beach of Rimini’s Grand Hotel on the evening of the 10th June, the great  party on the 12th at Coconuts (harbour zone), a “barista party” hosting the contestants and, since the results will have already been announced, the winner of the 2014 World Barista Championship.
