AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Coffee and chocolate products from five Pacific Island countries will be showcased at the fourth Chocolate & Coffee Show on Auckland’s waterfront this weekend. The show features all things related to chocolate and coffee.

Pacific Trade & Invest (PTI) New Zealand will host Samoa’s Koko Loa and ELife, Tonga’s Tupuaga Coffee, Solomons Gold from the Solomon Islands, Paradise Foods from Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu’s Tanna Coffee in a specially designed Pacific-themed stand titled the ‘Pacific Hub’ at the two-day show, on September 23 and 24 at The Cloud on Quay Street.

The featured companies are part of PTI NZ’s Pacific Path to Market programme, which is designed to help exporters from the Pacific Islands gain a better understanding of the New Zealand market.

It is an export capability programme combining a range of export facilitation services to help export ready and export capable businesses to enter New Zealand.

The programme follows a series of methodical steps to get into the New Zealand market, starting with workshops followed by an exploratory trade mission to New Zealand to apply their learnings, trial their products and packaging and introduce exporters to potential buyers.

Participating in a trade show in New Zealand is part of the Path to Market process.

Joe Fuavao, PTI NZ Trade Development Manager says, “Our participation at the Coffee & Chocolate Show this year represents another component of our Path to Market programme for our export ready companies.

Most of these companies participated in the Auckland Food Show in July. However, our presence at this show goes a step further and targets a specific product sector and audience. It is another good opportunity for our Pacific companies to build profile and presence in the New Zealand market.”

Earlier this year, PTI NZ featured Pacific Island exporters with 24 stands at the Pasifika festival, nine at the Auckland Food Show and four at the Auckland Spring Home and Gift Fair in August – all as part of the Path to Market programme.

Although not a trade-only event, the Chocolate & Coffee Show is an excellent venue to launch new products, test-market proposed products, make retail sales and build brand awareness and loyalty.

It also provides an opportunity for Pacific Island businesses for peer to peer business networking.

More than 8000 passionate foodies are expected to visit the show over Saturday and Sunday.

PTI’s Pacific Hub featuring the six companies at the show will be at Stand 43.
