PARIS, France – The 3rd edition of the “Chocolates processed at origin ” International Contest AVPA-Paris 2023 confirmed its success with more than 150 chocolates registered, demonstrating the sustained interest of chocolate producers. More than twenty countries participated again in this third competition from three continents producing cocoa and making chocolate outside Europe: Africa, America and Asia…

The candidates are partly cocoa farmers processing their cocoa to make chocolate and, partly local chocolatiers who have been able to organize a cooperation network with farmers in their country to offer excellent chocolates on their national and international markets.

The chocolates were divided into several categories:

  • Dark chocolates without additives with a Technical Jury chaired by Pascale Adeline, divided into three categories according to their percentage of cocoa (less than 70%, 70% to 80%, and more than 80%).
  • Various chocolates: dark chocolates with adjuvant or additive, milk chocolates, chocolates with various ingredients, chocolate candies etc…, with the same Technical Jury.

The Gastronomic Jury, under the chairmanship of Emmanuelle de Beauregard, then met to taste the chocolates selected by the Technical Jury, to complete the grades for the award of medals.
