Intergastra 2018, one of the top spots among the gastronomy trade fairs in Europe, is in full swing until February 7 in Stuttgart, with more exhibitors and a larger programme than ever before.

“We are pleased that the expansion of the trade fair grounds through the Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) is enabling us to offer more exhibition space to more than 1,300 exhibitors and an even more diverse and broader programme to visitors,” said Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, President of Messe Stuttgart.

One significant factor for the success story of Intergastra in recent years is the wide-ranging event programme, . Fokus Hotel, the Stuttgart Coffee Summit, the Innovation Prize, the Newcome start-up platform, different competitions and a varied DEHOGA stage programme featuring discussions and talks – there is a long list of the special areas and accompanying programme items during Intergastra. But where does what take place, and what events should the around 100,000 expected visitors definitely attend?

Must-attend event for company founders and innovators: Future Workshop

On an area of more than 1,000 square metres visitors to the Future Workshop can experience an exciting programme containing exhibitions, talks, discussions and networking opportunities. On the Newcome special area, for example, start-ups  present their products and services.

The results of the “Restaurant of the future” competition will also be presented during the Future Workshop. This competition during Intergastra provides trend-setting contributions towards restaurant design in the future. Gastro presents shop-in-shop solutions for the retail trade in its own concept workshop.

The Intergastra Innovation Prize is also presented for the tenth time. It is awarded for outstanding concepts in the areas of kitchen technology, design, food and beverages, property and facility management, sustainability, productivity and sales promotion. The closing date for entries is 15 October 2017.

Everything that hoteliers’ hearts desire

The Fokus Hotel Pavilion is tailored entirely to the needs of the hotel industry. It present specific offers, product innovations and solution concepts for hoteliers, and features regular panel discussions on topics such as hotel trends, the connection between restaurants and hotels, opportunities and risks of booking and rating portals, and examples of best practice.

From bean to cup

Visitors to the 4th Coffee Summit, one of the most important meetings for European coffee professionals, can learn everything there is to know about coffee beans. The event focuses on trend topics such as cold brew or pour over, but also the complete value-added chain of black gold from the bean to the cup. In the Roasters’ and Machine Park interested visitors have the opportunity to experience first-class hardware at close quarters and naturally also sample the different specialities during cup tastings. An exciting action programme containing talks, competitions and workshops round off the offering in the Stuttgart Coffee Summit.

Outdoor. Living. Ambience

The Intergastra programme contains events not only in the exhibition halls, but also in the Rothaus Park. Exhibitors at R+T, the leading world trade fair for roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems, present innovative products here under real weather conditions during a special show in February. The range of products for the outdoor area extends in this case from awnings and umbrellas through to terrace roofs with different accessories.

Hotel and restaurant companies will therefore be able to optimise and extend the outdoor season by providing reliable protection against sun, wind, rain and cold.

In addition to attractive design and technical finesse, the systems are highly impressive due to their flexibility through which they can be adapted to every installation situation. Outdoor areas can therefore be used ideally and comfortably – all-year round.

Ready, set, go

Intergastra is the ideal address for winners because, after all, there are more than enough competitions in which people can take part. One main area for this purpose is the Competition Arena in the atrium which stages the final of the Aramark Chefs‘ Cup together with competitions of the German Barkeepers’ Union, the Bocuse d’Or Germany and competitions of the Master Federation of Restaurateurs (MVG).

Events are also be held on the DEHOGA stage in Hall 7. For example, potential restaurant founders have the opportunity to present their ideas during an elevator pitch. Inspired by a 3-minute discussion in an elevator, they present their concepts on the show stage to renowned industry experts.

The winners will compete against one another in other competitions. The winner of the first prize in the regional final will receive €3,000. Throughout the trade fair the DEHOGA stage is also be the centre point for talks, shows, prize presentation ceremonies and discussions on topics such as staff motivation, hotel innovations and restaurants in the change to digitalisation.
