INDIA – Vikram Varma is Costa’s new Head of Marketing

Must read

According to sources, Costa Coffee India has appointed Vikram Varma as the Head of Marketing. This was confirmed by Santosh Unni, CEO, Costa Coffee India. Varma’s appointment is an internal move but before associating with Costa India he was heading marketing for KFC Nigeria for over three years.

Varma’s past experiences suggest, he can add value in the digital media space through his understanding of youth. Nigerian QSR market space is dominated by local brands and his expertise in expanding an international brand in a developing market, can be an aid if Costa Coffee India is eyeing to spread the chain in the tier 2 towns of India.

Costa Coffee is the United Kingdom’s largest coffee brand. It entered India in September 2005 through an exclusive franchisee tie-up with Devyani International Ltd.

Costa is a British multinational company and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Whitbread PLC.

Andy Harrison, CEO of Whitbread PLC was quoted recently in an interview that Costa Coffee wants to expand to 300 outlets in India.

The brand has its presence in all major cities of the country including outlets in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Pune, Agra and Jaipur. Last year, Costa opened its 100th Indian store in Mumbai.
