SAO Paulo, Brazil – After significant increases in early February, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for arabica type 6, delivered to São Paulo city, dropped in the accumulated of the month. On February 28, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index closed at BRL 2,482.22 per 60-kg bag, downing 1.04% against that on Jan. 31. The decrease at the end of the month was related to international drops.

It is worth noting that prices decreased despite the small supply in Brazil (2024/25 season) and the heat waves in important coffee producing areas, which can affect the final development of crops from the new season (2025/26).

Players surveyed by Cepea, especially those from Espírito Santo state, are concerned with this scenario.

Agents say that coffee beans that were at a good developing stage are already “burnt”, due to high temperatures. Rains are expected at higher volumes in March.
