Multi-award winning coffee machine manufacturer Fracino has created SUB1 – a bespoke, state-of-the-art espresso machine – for SUBWAY Franchisee outlets across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Seeking a cost efficient coffee machine for SUBWAY Franchisees prompted European Independent Purchasing Company (EIPC) Limited – a non-profit making organisation owned by SUBWAY® Franchisees in Europe – to commission the UK manufacturer to produce a -bespoke machine solely for SUBWAY stores.

Comprising top quality stainless steel, brass and copper components, the Fracino SUB1, which has been installed in 106 stores, delivers the convenience of a bean to cup machine with the simplicity of a traditional espresso machine.

Richard Mills, EIPC equipment manager, said: “Fracino’s innovative SUB1 has been created to best serve the needs of SUBWAY Franchisees. They were able to work with us to develop a bespoke machine that would be fit for purpose, taking an adaptable approach with the design – and after a rigorous development and testing process, they have created a machine that perfectly meet our requirements.

“The Fracino SUB1 likewise complements EIPC’s remit to help SUBWAY Franchisees in Europe to be as profitable and competitive as possible by delivering financial and service benefits through volume purchasing and pan-European supply chain operations.”
Fracino MD, Adrian Maxwell, said: “Being approached for this prestigious commission from a trailblazing global brand reinforces our powerful track record in innovation and world class manufacturing. Initial feedback from Franchisees has been fantastic and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with EIPC.”

SUBWAY Franchisee, Darran Chadwick, who runs five stores across Oxfordshire and Berkshire and was one of the first to trial the Fracino SUB1, says the machine is going down a treat with staff and customers: “Although the machine requires initial training, the excellent quality of the coffee is worth the extra effort. Fracino’s customer service is also an improvement over the other companies we’ve worked with.”

Bal Khaira, who runs three SUBWAY stores in Birmingham , added: “SUB1 is easy to use and copes well under pressure. Customers haven’t had to wait for their coffees and the drinks are always hot and taste great. We’ve been impressed by Fracino’s fast response and fantastic customer service.”

Founded in a garden shed by chairman Frank Maxwell in 1963, the third generation family business manufacturers 4,000 machines annually and exports to over 70 countries worldwide. Achieving double digit growth since 2009 and posting an unprecedented £4.1m turnover in 2014, Fracino’s vibrant growth continues both in the UK and overseas.
