RIMINI, Italy – The details surrounding the fourth edition of Barista & Farmer, the only international talent show dedicated to the promotion and the culture of specialty coffee, will be unveiled today at a press conference at Rimini Fair in the framework of Sigep.
During the press conference, ten among the best baristas in the world will have the chance to live for ten days like coffee producers in a country of origin.
Barista & Farmer format was created by Francesco Sanapo, three times italian barista champion, in collaboration with Italian Exhibition Group and SIGEP – Salone Internzionale Gelateria Pasticceria e Panificazione artigianale, and with the patronage of the Specialty Coffee Association (Sca) for more informations www.baristafarmer.com
The event will be followed by a round table called “From the recount of the ¡Tierra! Project to the coffee talent Barista & Farmer” (from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm, the journalists are invited) during which the participants will bring their experiences on what it means to “make a sustainable coffee”.
A virtuous example is the sustainability project ¡Tierra! by Lavazza, born in 2002 and developed in collaboration with the NGO Rainforest Alliance in order to raise the social and environmental conditions and the production techniques of some coffee producing communities.
Like the one in Lambarì, found in the latest edition of Barista & Farmer. Besides Michele Cannone and Vivian Vasquez, Maximo Ochoa, technical director of Fondazione Neumann Brazil / Lavazza’s Tierra Project expert will also intervene.
