BOGOTA, Colombia – As one of the most important events of the coffee industry next year, Colombia will host, from July 10 to 12, the first World Coffee Producers Forum.

Held in Medellín, Antioquía (picture), the second-largest city in Colombia, the Forum will bring together key players of the coffee chain (producers, exporters, importers, roasters, traders, etc.) and of the global industry to discuss the main challenges of the coffee sector.

The forum seeks to foster sustainability from seed to cup and identify strategies to achieve better distribution of value and responsibility among all actors of the coffee chain.

Some of the issues to be addressed include economic sustainability of producers, rural development, climate change adaptation, price volatility, generational change and co-responsibility in the value chain.

The forum will attract representatives of 40 coffee-producing countries including Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Togo, Vietnam, Indonesia, India and China.

It will also bring together key actors of the industry based in the US, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Asia.
