CANADA – Ben Put of Phil & Sebastian wins Canadian Barista Championship

VANCOUVER – The Canadian Coffee & Tea Show is proud to announce Ben Put as the winner of the 2013 Canadian Barista Championships! Ben Put of Calgary’s Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters was also a competitor in 2012 taking second place behind his Phil & Sebastian colleague, Jeremy Ho.

Ben will be competing at the 2014 World Barista Championship in Rimini, Italy!

The winners of 2nd through 6th place were; 2nd place, Cole Torode from Caffe Rosso, 3rd place, Keaton Ritchie from Cafe Myriade, 4th place Megan Feniak from Phil and Sebastian Coffee Roaster, 5th place, Morgan Allen from Caffe Artigiano and 6th place, Tristan Mapstone from Fernwood Coffee.

Congratulations to Devin Lilly, winner of The Latte Art Throw Down!  Devin was selected as the winner of the $500 prize with the highest combined soy and milk latte scores.

The Tea Association of Canada challenged attendees to showcase their abilities in a blind tea-tasting competition.

“So you think you can be a TEA SOMMELIER” participants tasted 10 teas to determine both the country of origin and the tea type. Congratulations to the top three winners; Anika Dovell, James Kenny who tied for 1st place and Mark Arathoon who came in 2nd.

The 2014 Canadian Coffee & Tea Show will take on September 28 & 29, 2014 in Toronto.
