CAFÉ DE COLOMBIA – Juan Valdez Café opens its first store in El Salvador

SAN SALVADOR. El Salvador – Juan Valdez Café, the premium coffee brand owned by Colombian coffee growers, opened its first Café in El Salvador. During the first quarter of 2014, three more stores are expected to be operating in the country.

This achievement is a milestone in the brand´s expansion phase in Central America, which expects to open at least 23 Cafés in the next five years.

“We are proud of what we have achieved and of our arrival to El Salvador,” stated Hernán Méndez, President of Procafecol S.A, the company that manages the commercial expansion of Juan Valdez Café.

“This step is crucial for enhancing the promotion of a Latin American international brand and we are confident that our quality product and welcoming spirit will  attract  Salvadoran consumers to visit Juan Valdez.”

With the new Café, located in San Salvador´s Centro Comercial Galerías Escalón shopping mall, there are currently 65 Juan Valdez Cafés operating in Mexico, Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and El Salvador.

Thanks to the rising demand for high quality brands and increasing coffee consumption in coffee shops rather than at home, Colombian premium coffee has gained great acceptance and favorability in Central America´s gastronomic gourmet sector.

Of the 259 Juan Valdez Cafés opened to the public in 10 different countries (Aruba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Kuwait, Mexico, Panama and Peru), 180 are located in Colombia. As part of its expansion strategy, in late November 2013, the brand ventured in the Middle East and opened a Café in Kuwait.

About the Juan Valdez brand

Juan Valdez is the only internationally recognized brand that belongs to coffee producers.

Inspired in the icon that has represented Café de Colombia for over 50 years, in 2002 the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation, –a non-profit organization that represents more than 500,000 small Colombian coffee producing families–, created the Juan Valdez brand for coffee shops.

As a result of the popularity and acceptance of the brand’s cafés and signature products, the distribution of Juan Valdez products in other domestic and international distribution channels began.

Besides being a synonym of high quality for premium Colombian coffee consumers, Juan Valdez´s coffees transfer a greater value to coffee producers.
