Coffee exports from Brazil were 10% in April, Cecafé

During the first four month of 2023, total exports of all forms of coffee were down by almost 20% to little less than 11.1 million bags. Green coffee shipments declines by 21.9% to 9.84 million bags, of which 9.45 million (-21.8%) or Arabica and 393,976 bags (-24.6%) of Robusta. Sales of processed coffee rose slightly (+0.5%) to 1.25 million bags

MILAN – Coffee exports from Brazil saw a further decline in April. According to Cecafé’s newly released figures, the world’s largest producer and exporter shipped 2.7 million bags of all forms of coffee, a 10.3% decline compared to the same month of 2022.

Green coffee exports fell to little less than 2.4 million bags, a 13.8% decline on-year and almost a million bags less compared to 2021. Arabica and Robusta volumes saw a 13.8% and 13.6% decline respectively.

On the other hand, processed coffee sales surged 27.8% to 326,892, mostly of soluble coffee.

Shipments to all main destinations went heavily down in the January-April period. Exports to Brazil’s main markets – the U.S. and Germany – fell by 19.2% and 46.5% respectively.
