VIENNA, Austria – Europe’s coffee community will gather for the eighth time at the Vienna Coffee Festival from 9 to 11 September 2022. For the first time, the event will take place in the Marx Hall, a listed architectural jewel in the coffee capital of Vienna.

Nomen est omen: An excellent range of coffee products, first-class culinary delights, and an always fascinating voyage of discovery through the world of coffee earned the event the incomparable distinction of being the “World’s coolest coffee event”. This year, international experts will once again meet in Vienna to learn about new trends and techniques.

Vienna Coffee Festival: Listen, taste, and try out

From excellent green coffee specialities around the world’s best coffee-growing regions to the most diverse coffee-roasting processes and the latest machines and mills of producers and traders – all this awaits coffee-lovers at this year’s festival. In addition, professional baristi and bartenders will convince visitors with a wide variety of methods – from espresso to filter coffee to coffee cocktails – and impress with creative latte art. Visitors can find out about portafilter, fully automatic machine, grinder, creative accessories, or the right roasting and tasting of coffee.

Sustainability and social responsibility, from which everyone benefits, are just as much in focus as new developments, precision and sensory quality awareness for coffee, water, milk, and spirits.

Both the best domestic roasters and the best international green coffee traders in Europe are represented with well over 100 of the finest speciality coffees from the world’s coffee regions. The festival shop also offers the opportunity to purchase everything you need to enjoy coffee at home – from exquisite coffee roasts to a wide range of accessories and designer creations to the ideal coffee machine.

Accumulated knowledge: Workshops & Masterclass

In tastings and workshops on all days of the event, numerous international experts will once again pass on their knowledge about coffee, machines, accessories, and valuable tips for perfect preparation to the public and invite them to try it out. The home barista trend is in focus this year.

Learning from the best: the master classes at the festival are all about theory and practice, and all visitors can lend a hand. On board are the first Austrian roasting world champion Felix Teiretzbacher from St. Pölten, who recently won the SCA Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) title in Milan. From Italy come the Latte Art World Champion Carmen Clemente and Manuela Fensore (2019) as well as Matteo Beluffi. In the MUMAC Academy, the director and multiple award-winning barista trainer Benjamin Graf offers workshops for the perfect coffee at home. In addition, you can learn how to compare, describe, and evaluate Arabica and Robusta coffee in taster courses with top coffee expert Oliver Goetz, co-owner of Alt Wien Kaffee.

The programme – every day a benefit

The B2B Day on Thursday, September 8th, is themed: “Coffee & Food” and is open exclusively to trade visitors from the coffee and hospitality sectors such as industry and commerce. The keynotes by Austria’s avant-garde chef Juan Amador (Restaurant Amador) and pastry world champion Eveline Wild (Hotel- Restaurant Der Wilde Eder) set fine sensory marks for working with coffee. Friday, 9 September, is the first public day dedicated to “Coffee & Drinks” and shines the spotlight on the special “Coffee in Good Spirits” cocktails.
Saturday, 10 September is dedicated to music – including an evening Very Special Club Show by Hot Pants Road Club with guests and friends to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary. On Sunday, 11 September, “Coffee & Brunch” is all about the festival.

Pure entertainment

The supporting programme of the Vienna Coffee Festival is also impressive and offers the best entertainment for young and old. On Saturday, Austria’s international barista elite will duel on the festival stage as part of the “Latte Art Throwdown”, while the Radio Superfly Corner will provide the finest sound on all days. For the first time, the festival will offer a comprehensive spectrum of art – from photography to watercolours, industrial design to graphic novels with live sessions to watch and participate in.

The comprehensive programme and all dates of the three public days will be published continuously on the website. The latest contributions will also be published on Facebook and Instagram.
